A rare pair of doucai bowls Of deep round form painted in doucai overglaze enamels of red, green, yellow and underglaze blue, the inside of the bowl with a flowerhead surrounded by five leaf-shaped panels joined by a linked chain, alternating with Tibetan characters, the rim with a broad band of Tibetan characters, the outside similarly decorated, the base with the iron-red mark ‘Caihua Tang zhi’ which can be translated as: ‘made for the Hall of Many - Coloured flowers’. Period: Qianlong (1736 - 1795). Diameter: 18 cm.
