Unsigned graphite on paper study of the festivities surrounding the feast day of San Geronimo at Taos Pueblo, ca. 1920. The feast day of San Geronimo has been a major celebration at Taos Pueblo since the Spanish colonial period, and is a mixture of Catholic and traditional Pueblo practices. The two-day celebration and ceremony includes dances, traditional pole climbing, and a footrace. This study depicts several of these events. The study is dry mounted to a backing.
