The bowl is decorated with two large panels enclosing scenes of a merchant on a boat with his wares ready to unload, with further figures standing on the shore in front of European-style buildings, all surrounded by iron-red and gilt floral sprays. The interior is decorated with the scene repeated, surrounded by acanthus leaves and famille rose branched flowers, all below a gilt leafy floral border to the rim. Condition: A thin area of the rim has been restored with associated overpainting (approx. 4 cm. long). Wear to the gilding and enamels consistent with age.
