By Tesseki, 1913Of muso-zutsu form, finely engraved in kebori with a continuous scene of Chinese scholars in a mountainous landscape, four crossing a bridge over a river, three in a hut supported on stilts and two wandering among trees, one of them carrying a qin (Chinese stringed instrument), an inscription at the top reading Kotei kaishu (Gathering at the River Pavilion); signed mizunoto-ushi shoshu Tesseki to (carved by Tesseki in the seventh month of the mizunoto-ushi year [=1913]) with seal. 22.8cm (9in) long.
