Description: 470 - 460 B.C. On side A Dionysos with kantharos and branch between a maenad who is playing a cithara and a satyr playing the double-flute. On side B further members of the thiasos: in the middle a maenad with flute between two dancing satyrs. Palmettes on the handles, on the rim and on the neck bands of pointed leaves, outside the rim and to the sides of the panels double bands of dots, above each panel a frieze of tongues and rays above the foot. Reassembled from fragments, several missing areas are retouched. One modern hole at side A and three at side B. After its publication in Gorny & Mosch 248, 2017, lot 3 the krater has been professionally restored. The lot is accompanied by an export licence from Italy and a copy of a handwritten note! Attischer Kolonettenkrater des Oinanthe-Malers. 470 - 460 v. Chr. H 37,8cm, B 39,2cm, ? Mündung 32,1cm, ? Fu? 17,9cm. Rotfigurig. Auf Seite A schreitet Dionysos mit Kantharos und Zweig nach rechts, hinter ihm ein Ziegenbock. Ihm folgt auf der linken Seite eine reich gewandete M?nade, die eine Kithara schl?gt. Vor ihm steht ein Satyr, der einen (heute verlorenen) Doppelaulos spielt. Das Futteral aus Pantherfell für die Fl?te h?ngt an seinem linken Arm. Der Reigen findet seine Fortsetzung auf Seite B: Seitlich t?nzeln zwei Satyrn, w?hrend zwischen ihnen eine M?nade mit Doppelaulos nach rechts schreitet. Die Bildfelder werden seitlich jeweils von einer doppelten Punktreihe und oben von einem Zungenstab begrenzt. über dem Fu? ein Strahlenkranz, auf dem Hals und der Mündung h?ngende Lanzettbl?tter, auf dem Mündungsrand eine doppelte Punktreihe und auf den Henkelplatten Palmetten. Aus zahlreichen Fragmenten zusammengesetzt, dabei einige retuschierte Fehlstellen. Auf der Vs. ein und auf der Rs. drei moderne L?cher. Seit seiner Ver?ffentlichung in Gorny & Mosch 248, 2017, Los 3 ist der Krater neu restauriert worden. Mit italienischer Exportlizenz und Kopie einer handschriftlichen Notiz! Einer der Einlieferung beigefügten Notiz (Kopie) nach hat Beazley den Krater mit dem Schweine-Maler verbunden. Ein Vergleich der M?nade mit Kithara mit der Gaia auf der namensgebenden Kalpis British Museum E 182 macht eine Zuweisung an den Oinanthe-Maler wahrscheinlich: ARV2 580,2; J. Boardman, Rotfigurige Vasen aus Athen. Die archaische Zeit (1981) Abb. 329; BAPD 206695. Zum Ph?nomen der Manieristen s. Th. Mannack, The Late Mannerists in Athenian Vase-Painting (2001).
