Durga
Durga, whose name may be translated as ‘the inaccessible’, is the most popular form of the Hindu deity Devi, whose incarnations also include Saraswati and Lakshmi. In classical representations Durga is mostly depicted as Mahisasurmardini, slaying the Mahishasura in the guise of a buffalo. Her numerous arms are a symbol of her power (shakti). Her mount is a lion or tiger and her typical attributes include a discus, trident, bow and arrow, sword, mace, shield and conch shell as well as a prayer chain or bell.
Khmer
The Kingdom of Khmer, also called Angkor Empire, is now known as Cambodia and was one of the major empires in Southeast Asia. The greatest legacy of the Empire is Angkor, the then capital famous for its majestic sights. The latter illustrate the immense power and wealth of the kingdom and the Angkor region still fascinates with its art, culture and architecture. The beginning of the Khmer Empire dates back to around 802 AD under the ruler Jayavarman II and ended with the fall of Angkor in the 15th century.
