A very fine pair of oil on canvas paintings attributed to Hans Zatzka, unsigned, within giltwood frames. The right: Venus and Amor standing near a fountain surrounded by flowers. The left: Psyche and Cupid kneeling by the garden. The canvases are very finely painted which led us to assume these are by the artist painted in the late 19th century. The giltwood frames are 20th century. Hans Zatzka was an Austrian academic and fantasy painter. He has sometimes been known as P. Ronsard, Pierre de Ronsard, or H. Zabateri, and had signed many of his works as Joseph Bernard, J. Bernard, or Bernard Zatzka. An identical painting from this pair "Venus and Amor standing near a fountain surrounded by flowers" was done by Hans Zatzka. Canvas: 37" x 22.5".
