A framed Chinese watercolor and ink painting and calligraphy on paper by Huang Kan. The painting depicts a scholar reading and has an inscription and 2 seals, while the calligraphy on gold-flecked paper has 3 seals. Both are mounted on a silk backing with a wooden frame. Dimensions are: each measures 12 inches tall X 16 1/4 inches wide, while the frame measures 20 1/4 inches tall X 50 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is staining to the silk, the painting has a few small areas of repairs with some very minor foxing. Provenance: Collected in Hong Kong prior to the 1980s.
