NAPOLEON I (1769-1821), Emperor of the French. Three letters signed ('Bonaparte'), to the President of the Central Administration of the Department of Dr?me, Mombello, [4 July 1797], acknowledging a letter of congratulation, ‘L’estime de ses Concitoyens est la seule recompense digne du dévouement et des services que le soldat a rendus à la République’; to citizen Tronchon, Treviso, [26 October 1797], promoting him to sous-lieutenant as a reward for his good conduct during ‘l’accident arrivé à Lido’; and to citizen Majac, ‘ordonnateur de la Marine’, Toulon, [12 May 1798], about the naming of two recently-constructed ships; [and] three reports on military matters endorsed by Napoleon (with the signature ‘Nap’ or ‘N’), 23 August 1809, 28 March 1810, and 7 June 1815, the latter only 11 days before Waterloo, approving payment for a meal for 7,630 officers or soldiers in the ‘the deputation of the army’ (the text somewhat smudged). Together with a cased set of fifteen bronzed Napoleonic intaglio medallions, 19th century, in a green-velvet glazed 'Mallet' frame
