A PAIR OF GEORGE II GILTWOOD GIRANDOLE MIRRORS CIRCA 1755, POSSIBLY BY WILLIAM AND JOHN LINNELL AFTER A DESIGN BY MATTHIAS LOCK Each cartouche-shaped plate surmounted by an eagle with outspread wings, the frame carved with rockwork, C-scrolls, bullrushes, acanthus and fruiting garlands, with three scrolling candle branches and later gilt-metal nozzles, losses, replacements and restorations to the peripheral carving, re-gilt, minor differences in construction, the plates replaced 84 x 41 (213.5 x 104 cm.) and 80 x 42 in. (203 x 107 cm.)
