Large Chinese underglaze blue and white porcelain ginger jar, baluster-form with domed lid, hand-painted with an overall design of foliage, flowers, and large "Double Happiness" characters in Greek key borders, the underside with blue "Chenghua Nian Zhi" (Chenghua Period Make) mark, second half 19th century, called the "Kangxi Revival" period. 18.5" H. Exterior with numerous glaze pops, interior with firing crack not extending to interior, scattered rust spots and glaze pops, several tiny filled-in chips to underside of lid rim, minor restoration to foot rim. One of two very similar jars, the other to be found in Lot 108.
