, FANGDING EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 11TH CENTURY BC The deep body of rectangular form is raised on four columnar legs cast in intaglio with triangles pendent from a scroll band. The body is cast in relief on each side with a taotie mask below a band of kui dragons, all reserved on leiwen grounds and centered by notched flanges which are repeated at the corners, with a pair of bail handles rising from the rim. The bronze has a dark grey and mottled green patina. Together with two line drawings of the present lot by Hongwei Dong. 8 ? in. (21.7 cm.) high
