Description: Cast bronze-alloy with incised detail work. Good patina.
Tibet / China, 18th – 19th century
The four-armed Samvara standing in pratyalidhasana on an incised and fully sealed lotus base, wearing a tiara consisting of a string of human skulls, a tiger’s fur gown around the waist, a scarf and elaborate jewelry, holding vajra and ghanta in his principal two hands and embracing his two-armed consort, and two further attributes in his third and fourth hand.
Considering how small this statue is, it surprises the beholder how well the many details are executed, still without cluttering the serene depiction at all.
