Description: The first is a Cantonese famille rose bowl for the Islamic market densely decorated and gilt with roundels enclosing an Arabic inscription and birds and flowers and panels enclosing figural scenes, all below trellis bands and bands of flower sprays on a gilt blue ground. The second is a saucer decorated with two ladies and boys to the centre surrounded by landscape cartouches in puce enamel and roundels enclosing plants. The bowl: 6.8 cm. high, 14.5 cm. diam. The saucer: 2.7 cm. high, 13.5 cm. diam. Condition: The bowl: With 2 chips to the rim (the larger approx. 2.2 cm., with a short associated hairline) and a crack to the rim (approx. 3.5 cm. long).
