Description: LARGE SOUTH AMERICAN PAINTED POTTERY JAR
Large Redware Olla, Shipibo, 20th c., the red lower half with scorch marks, the upper half and tapered neck in stylized red and black geometric pattern on a white ground, with black pigment on the inside, 17" x 18" diam. Very good condition, a few tiny flakes.
The Shipibo are an indigenous people along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest in Peru.
