The group comprises three baluster vases and covers and two slender gu vases, each of hexagonal form. The exterior is decorated with alternating panels of elegant ladies, lady and boy, and scholars in a mountainous river landscapes. The panels are divided by vertical scrolling flower heads. The shoulders are decorated with lappet bands on a prunus and cracked ice ground. The necks are each decorated with precious objects. The covers are surmounted with gilt-decorated Buddhist lion finials.
The vases and covers: 33 cm. high
The gu vases: 29 cm. and 29.5 cm. high
Condition: One cover: with a chip to the rim and the Buddhist lion finial is detached.
One cover: has been broken and repaired.
One baluster vase: there are chips to the neck (approx. 3.2 cm. long).
One gu vase: there are two areas of restoration to the rim (approx. 7.5 cm. wide).
The other two baluster vases and one gu vase: appear to be in overall good condition, with frits to the edge.
All: with various chips and frits.
