Description: The well-curved globular body is surmounted by a short neck with a lipped, everted rim. The jar is covered with a mixture of yellow, white and blue glaze, with brown running in rivulets from the mouth over the body. In certain areas there is a fine iridescence due to the mixture of tin and lead based glaze. The underside and part of the foot are unglazed, exposing the pottery beneath.
Style of: Tang (618 – 907), age determination uncertain
Diameter: 11.5cm
Blue shades are very rare on Tang ceramics. The iridescence is a mark of the objects antiquity.
