Il s'installe à Constantinople au début des années 1890, et y demeure jusqu'en 1901, alors qu'il n'aurait d? y effectuer qu'un court séjour.La production picturale de l'artiste est assez réduite puisqu'elle se concentre entre le début des années 1890 et 1905, dates du séjour du peintre à Constantinople, en Turquie. Il expose régulièrement des vues de Constantinople et de Turquie dans les premières galeries de Constantinople, situées dans le quartier de Péra-Galata.Les vues de ports ou de cités c?tières sont l'un des sujets de prédilection de l'artiste. A Marseille, Venise et surtout Constantinople, les jeux de lumière sur les architectures lui permettent de déployer une palette où sont finement déclinés les tons blanc et ocre.Le dessin est rapidement exécuté et les volumes sont simplifiés. En effet, le peintre s'intéresse davantage à la retranscription d'une atmosphère qu'à la représentation analytique de la réalité.Un mystère plane sur l'identité véritable du peintre Prieur-Bardin. Il semblerait toutefois qu'il s'agisse du sculpteur Fran?ois-Léon Prieur-Bardin, référencé parmi les membres de la Société des artistes fran?ais de 1896.? The painter Prieur-Bardin was a French-born artist who went to Constantinople in the early 1890s, remaining there until 1901, although he originally only planned to stay a short while.His output was relatively small, mostly produced between the early 1890s and 1905, when he lived in Constantinople, in Turkey. He regularly exhibited views of Constantinople and Turkey in the first galleries of Constantinople, in the Péra-Galata district.Ports and coastal towns were a favourite subject of his. In Marseille, Venice and above all Constantinople, the play of light on the architecture provided him with opportunities to explore a palette of highly refined white and ochre tones.He drew rapidly and simplified the volumes, as he was more interested in conveying an atmosphere than in an analytical representation of reality.The true identity of the painter Prieur-Bardin is somewhat mysterious. However, it would appear that he was the sculptor Fran?ois-Léon Prieur-Bardin, listed as a member of the Société des Artistes Fran?ais in 1896.
