A CLOISONNé ENAMEL 'EIGHT BUDDHIST EMBLEMS' CUP STAND MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) The flat-bottomed dish is modelled with a slightly raised collar to the centre. It is finely enamelled to the centre with a stylised Chinese seal character for fu (good fortune), enclosed by a petal band. The well is decorated with the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, supported on a band of composite floral sprays to the well, below a further band of cloud scrolls at the rim, all reserved on a turquoise ground. 6 1/8 in. (15.7 cm.) diam.
