Pair of early Republic Period Rose Canton porcelain urns, each having a gilt rose finial topping a domed lid decorated with reserves depicting courtiers in leisure pursuits on a ground of butterflies and flowers, surmounting a trumpet neck and tapering body decorated with a scene of two courtly families and their attendants meeting at an outdoor pavilion, flanked by gilt rose handles, the body rising on a socle form standard embellished with slate blue and gold taotie motifs, the whole resting on a stepped circular base having scattered butterflies and auspicious flowers, apparently unmarked. 14.5"h x 7"w.
