AN EARLY LOUIS XIV IVORY-INLAID, EBONY AND EBONISED CABINET-ON-STAND CIRCA 1640-50, THE STAND ALTERED Carved and engraved overall with floral sprays, putti, and Biblical scenes with saints, the rectangular moulded top above a breakfront with two panelled doors flanked by Corinthian pilasters, enclosing an interior inlaid with ivory, green-stained bone, kingwood and bois satiné fitted with twelve drawers arranged around an additional pair of conformingly-carved doors enclosing a central cupboard fitted with a marquetry-inlaid and mirrored stage-set interior, painted landscape background and balustrade gallery, flanked by further drawers, the stand with three frieze drawers on spirally turned supports and central carved panel joined by a low platform, on bun feet; the stand altered and incorporating original elements such as the front carved supports, the back panel probably associated 72 in. (183 cm.) high; 62 ? in. (159 cm.) wide; 24 in. (61 cm.) deep
