Meiji periodThe deep octagonal bowl decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine, yellow and black enamels and gilt over underglaze blue with a central roundel depicting a Dutch ship bordered by a band with dragons chasing the flaming pearl, surrounded by panels of further ships and two faux coats-of-arms divided by pairs of standing Dutchmen, the exterior with two shaped panels of ships and two circular panels with Dutch figures divided by peonies and foliage, the base with a ju character, 33cm wide together with a circular plate in the same pattern, 23.7cm diameter, (both with professional restoration to rims).(2).
