Wood netsuke-okimonoJapan19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)A very well, sculpturally carved scene on an oval base, showing two brigands, one with a grim expression, the other appearing more amused, both with clubs. They challenged Kanshin, a dispossessed prince who refused to fight anyone of low birth, forcing him to crawl away between their legs. Kanshin became a General under Liu Bei, who became Emperor during the Han dynasty in the year 202 AD. Signed on the flat base MITSU-MASA.
