Ivory netsukeJapan19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)This work features all the typical attributes of shishi – slightly grim expression, curly beard, full mane and flaming tail. It is scratching itself with one of its rear legs, its body forming a half circle. Very beautiful polish and patina. Himotoshi on the underside.
