Stag-antlerJapan19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)This case for a kiseru (pipe) shows a sagi (heron) in between large lotus leaves, as well as rocks (incorporated into the characteristic antler structure) and botan (peony) flowers. Two mallards are flying down from the sky at breakneck speed. The insertable part shows a crescent moon and clouds.
