Antique Circa 19th Century French Carved Wood & gilt Metal Rabbit Box. The underside of the box along the gilt metal section it is signed MOREAU or MORFAU. The top of the box has a carved running rabbit jumping over a log with carved flowers in the background. The box has a rococo design to it, ball feet and curved metal scroll corners. The box is more than 125 years old. It shows its age but is in overall very good condition. It will make a wonderful addition to any unusual antique box collection. Some losses to the wood veneer are noticeable under along the side of the box and in one area of the top of the box over the rabbit near the outer border.
