Antique 19th Century French Mahogany Cigar Tantalus Mother of Pearl Inlay. The Tantalus has its original lock, key and 3 pull out cigar trays. The bottom section has a pull out drawer for accessories. The box lifts open, closes and locks securely. The top of the box has a bronze plate with a cartouche with 2 initials that look like GB. The Mother of Pearl inlay is exceptionally well designed with small Mother of Pearl inlays and small crosses designed bronze inlays around the cartouche. The corners of the inlay have a fleur de lis design. The area of both sides of the cartouche have inlayed Mother of Pearl fleur de lis. The face of the cabinet has a Bombay shape with a continuation of the bronze inset crosses and Mother of Pearl design and stylized fleur de lis. Most of the time when you open a Tantless you would see small bottles and glasses, this is the first we have ever seen that was especially made to house cigars. The Tantalus is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. It measures 10-1/4 inches wide, 7 inches deep and 6-3/4 inches high. This is a unique Tantless, when you unlock it and lift the top open it reveals three trays that will comfortably hold 36 cigars. The trays can be put in at various heights depending on thickness of cigars. The bottom tray is a drawer for storing accessories. This is a rare Mother of Pearl Mahogany French cigar Tantalus sure to please the new owner. Click Here for Higher Quality Images
