A Chinese carved celadon jade brush pot or washer, the central pot with a crouching boy to the left, his head and hands resting upon the rim, a leaping carp to the right amidst tumultuous waves, the exterior of the pot with an engraved inscription in archaic script, from the poem 'Que Qiao Xian' (Fairy on the Magpie Bridge) by Qin Guan (1049-1100), 6?in. (17.2cm.) long, 2?in. (5.7cm.) high.
