A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE GILT WOOD BURMESE BUDDHIST SHRINE. Comprising a finely carved wood figure of Buddha, in the bhumisparsha mudra position, finished in red lacquer and gilded and further embellished with paste stones resting on a large and imposing multi-tiered carved, lacquered and gilt wood base profusely decorated with colored glass inlays and upon which rests a carved gilt wood Shan temple style niche framework with ornate pierced carved border with mirrored back and also embellished with colored glass. Comprising three individual pieces, the Buddha height 25.5 inches (64.5 cm), the multi-tiered stand measuring 34.5 inches (87.5 cm), the niche framework measuring 48 inches (122 cm).
