Cut out canvas art.
A refined conceptual art opera realized by means of cut out canvas art. The movement of herds is represented through the movement of the matter. Nacho Zubelzu pays particular attention to the ortographic variation and fragmentation, to a slow movement of its inhabitants and to subtle chromatic variations which are united with certain iridescences of the light.
Nacho Zubelzu does not use colours or brushes, but just as in this opera, he uses cut out canvas, laminated leather, string, eco-friendly leather, wool, a golden leaf, radiographic film on canvas. His atelier is mostly manual, equipped with a great expressive power. Nothing more to add! It would be superfluous.

NACHO ZUBELZU (Reinosa, Spagna, 1966)
Nacho Zubelzu’s biography is characterized by his strong passion for art and nature. Nacho nourishes himself with the experiences lived in contact with nature to internalize the beauty of the elements that he finds artistically shaped through painting, photography, sculpturing, large scale installations and performance.
During the recent years, his journeys across the various African countries, such as Kenya or Gambia, across China, Finland, and Morocco, have inspired his most recent works which represente profiles and footprints, i.e. the essence of every human being.
Another source of inspiration is transhumance, the artist travels twice a year together with the nomadic shepherds from the regions of Extremadura and Andalusia (Spain) following the sheep and herds paths while looking for the two springs.
Nacho Zubelzu was awarded as "Best Artist from Cantabria"in 2004 by the regional Authorities (Gobierno de Cantabria). He was one og the finalist during the II International Biennial of Drawing, José Amat, in Girona, and among many other awards, he received the Caja Espa?a de Pintura Award. His works were exhibited at the Fair Art Beijing in China, Cervantes Institute in Tokyo, at Setup Art Fair in Bologna and at JustMad Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid.
He illustrated various publications on Nature and he was a Drawing lecturer at Internacional Menéndez Pelayo University in Santander and Sevilla. In 2016, during June and July, Nacho had the opportunity to exhibit his works at the WhiteBox gallery, located in the art district 798 in Beijing.Later he travelled across Mongolia and managed to capture the most ancestral essence of the nomad populations. This Project finished in 2017 with some works created in Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
