Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. Very unusual pottery sculpture depicting two wrestlers or boxers - and what I believe are both individuals suffering from dwarfism. Both are shown nude grasping at the others upper torso, one kicking at the other. In the Roman arena it was popular to see "little people" fighting each other before the more recognizable gladiatorial fights to the death. Size: 4-7/8" H (12.4 cm).
