Perhaps the single most important piece of Asian art we have ever had the pleasure of offering! China, Jin to Yuan Dynasty, ca. 12th to 13th century CE. Large Jun-Ware/ Junyao ceramic bowl with scalloped edging decorated with luscious sky blue glaze with added purple splashes to interior and exterior, short brown unglazed foot. Although a form for which we can find no exact comparables, this type of glazed pottery vessel has an extensive history of bringing in excess of $100,000 at the major auction houses. Size: 7.38" W x 3" H (18.7 cm x 7.6 cm)
For a very similar example, still attached to its original saggar / mold, see Christies, sale 3720, lot 3252, which brought $149,000.
