Japan, Edo Period, ca. 1800 to 1850 CE. Fine bronze water dropper (Suiteka) in the form of a small squash. Deep brown patina, small spout emerging from the stem, flat base. Vessels such as this were used to drip small amounts of water on ink stones for use in Japanese calligraphy. Fine example! Size: 2.25" W x 1" H (5.7 cm x 2.5 cm)
