These lovely ancient bells come from the fine collection of the late expert John Piscopo. During his lifetime, Mr. Piscopo amassed an impressive ensemble of ancient metal works from ancient Greece, Rome, the Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and many other lands. A knowledgeable connoisseur with a keen eye, Mr. Piscopo understood how to discern between reproductions and authentic examples. Given the vast number of fakes on the market offered to unsuspecting collectors, Mr. Piscopo took special care to assure that his collection only included genuine pieces. What’s more, he stood on the frontlines of the fight to stop the illicit looting of historical sites.
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
