A LARGE AND FINE SATSUMA TEAPOT BY MATSUMOTO HOZANSatsuma ceramicJapan, late 19th- early 20th century, Meiji period (1868-1912)The large teapot with three feet, a spout and bamboo handle ornately decorated with alternating reserves in-between fine gilt borders with geometrical and brocade patterns. One reserve with a depiction of samurai warriors, their clothes with gilt details, opposite a reserve with a depiction of court ladies with children. The remaining reserves, as well as the lid, filled with fine floral motifs.
