Description: Very important antique Japanese Meiji period lidded ball box by Konoike. Covered jar with round lustrous body decorated with multiple lacquer techniques and design motif in various shades of gold. Hirata school cloisonne florets sustain a network of finely turned silver banding about the body, focusing upon Shibayama ikebna floral arrangements. Four silver, shakudo and copper Manchurian cranes upon a wood and bronze stand bear the globe upon their backs. Lid features a figural mother and son monkey finial. Silver signature plaque under the lid signed Konoike. Measures 11 3/4" x 5 1/2" Good condition with mild surface wear. Accompanied with Flying Cranes Antiques 2005 receipt, total cost $49,000.00 USD.
