Description: Antique Japanese Meiji period bronze vessel. Ovoid form with sort neck. Decorated in gold, silver, copper and shakudo with high relief floral design. Butterfly inlaid border with moth accent. Signed with the seal of Kako (Suzuki Chokichi) beneath the double mountain mark of the Kiritsu Koshe Kaisha. The Kiritsu Kosho Kaisha [First Industrial Manufacturing Company] was founded by the Meiji government to exploit the success of the Japanese exhibit at the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873.
