A thangka painting of Marichi The bodhisattva depicted amid swirling clouds, seated on a lotus base in vajrasana with her eight arms radiating around her, the body golden yellow in colour, with three faces and eight hands; the principle head is yellow with three eyes and a serene expression, the right head pale and wrathful, the left a face of a wild boar, her hair piled into a high chingon; the principle hands in maricimudra, the upper pair of hands each holding an orb, representing the sun and moon, the right hands hold a vajra and a bow and arrow, the left hands hold a dorje and spear; wearing a red undergarment, a girdle, and adorned with jewels and an ornate tiara, she is flanked by two female attendants, each holding a sword and offering up a peony and a severed goat’s head, a fantastic flaming beast sits at her feet, the bottom left corner with inscriptions and two seals reading: ‘Kangxi gengyin cyclical (1710), mid 8th month respectfully drawn by Quan Shilun’ Period: Kangxi (1662 - 1722). Measurements: 120?x?71.5 cm, with surrounding mounting: 205?x?97 cm.
