Two double peacock ‘King John’ dishes One oval and one slightly squared, each decorated in famille rose enamels, the central panel with a brightly coloured peacock and peahen perched on a rock formation under a towering peony branch in full bloom, surrounded by a band of fleur-de-lis, the outer edge decorated with a diaper-pattern border in rouge-de-fer alternating with narrow blue scrolls, the base of the oval dish unglazed, the other glazed. Period: Qianlong (1736 - 1795). Length: 41 cm and 37 cm.
