SITZENDORFER PORZELLANMANUFAKTUR GILT AND POLYCHROME ENAMEL DECORATED PORCELAIN FIGURAL GROUP, THURINGIA, EAST GERMANY, CIRCA 1974-1990, the large figural group of an outdoor picnic with a female seated on the ground wearing lace edged gown and skirt, her hat removed and set on the ground together with her parasol, her arms raised in front as if declining a glass of wine from her male companion attired in lace edged shirt and cravat, long coat over a floral patterned waistcoat and pantaloons, standing opposite, holding a bottle of wine in his left hand, at his feet an open case to hold the porcelain coffee pot, bowls, sugar bowl, and platter with glass and cutlery set out on a cloth, while another couple in similar attire and seated on the flower blossom strewn ground hold wine glasses and gaze at each other, with a flower filled urn mounted atop a pedestal with relief Cupid figures within an oval gilt frame, to either side a shrubbery, raised on oval plinth with gilt highlighted scrolled legs and border, underglaze blue crown over bifurcated "S," with remnants of Country of Origin label.
