A GREEK PARCEL GILT AND EGG TEMPERA ON BOARD ICON, 18TH CENTURY, "Hypapante," the scene of Mary in a red and blue dress and and Joseph in a blue robe holding a cloth present Jesus to God as their first born son after her period of cleansing in the temple, where Simeon in a red robe and grey tunic blesses the Christ child while Anne an elderly prophetess in a red cloak gazes on holding a scroll. The figures are in a medieval style brick temple room centered by a blue canopy with a hanging incense burner above a red curtain and golden holy book, and stand on the steps.
