Japan, Edo Period, ca. 1800 to 1850 CE. Fine bronze water dropper (Suiteka) decorated with tiger and landscape in high relief, handle emerges from the mouth of another creature. Vessels such as this were used to drip small amounts of water on ink stones for use in Japanese calligraphy. Size: 3.25" L x 1.75" H (8.3 cm x 4.4 cm).
