A Chinese ivory card case, Cantonese, 19th century. Of rectangular form with rounded corners, the front deeply carved in relief with a cartouche depicting a figural scene enclosed within floral and foliate decoration with a bat carved above to the cover. The reverse with a vacant cartouche is intricately carved in shallow relief depicting figures set within garden landscapes and pavilion terraces. 3.3 in (8.4 cm) height, 1.9 in (4.7 cm) width, 0.4 in (1.3 cm) depth.
