Superb Pair of Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze and Marble Cassolettes after a Model by Gouthiere. Possibly Henry Dasson. Each with pierced gilt bronze everted rim above a lobed marble vessel on three monopodia supports headed by Bacchic masks joined by grapevine and floral swags terminating in hoof feet centering a spiraling serpent, on a circular marble platform raised on toupie feet, now converted to lamps with pleated shades and gilt bronze finial. Fourth Quarter 19th Century. Height 25.5 inches (64.77 cm). Diameter 12 inches (30.5 cm). A nearly identical model by Henry Dasson incorporating green porphyry was sold Christieís New York, October 24, 2006, 19th Century Furniture, Sculpture, Works of Art and Ceramics, Lot 414, signed by Henry Dasson and dated 1878.
