Description: Qianlong Period (1736-1795AD) white Nephrite Jade carved lidded vessel. Measures approx. 11 3/8" (29cm) height and weighs approx 2.4kg. This spectacular and rare Meiping vase is distinguished by sublime stone of rosehues and by high artistic quality. The lidded vessel has a refined, elegant look, with a balance achieved between the delicate details of prunus sprigs and blossoms carved in high relief and the smooth, glossy surface of the vase, utilized as the backdrop. The body of the vase is carved from one spectacular piece of Jade and is a testimonial to the skills of the carvers. The vase is well hollowed on the interior. The well fitted domed cover isalso adorned with blossoming prunus sprigs. The surface of the vessel is polished to create a waxy sheen, la guange, so typical of the jades of the 1700s.
