Description: Rolex – Explorer, ref. 1016, “Tropical Caramel-brown” dial, stainless steel, same owner for over 40 years. Model: Explorer Material: Stainless steel Reference N°: 1016 Year: Circa 1966/1967 Case N°: 1506594 Caliber: 1570 automatic Bracelet: Rolex stainless steel Oyster Dimensions: 36 mm Signed: Dial, case, movement and bracelet The first Explorer was launched by Rolex in 1953 for a famous mountaineer in a legendary ascent on Everest Mount. The reference 1016 is an early tool watch from the Rolex brand and today is considered a classic watch with a cool clean aesthetic. With the black lacquered dial on the early examples, features gilt printing and their now signature 3-6-9 numeral layout. The present example is in crispy original conditions, from the first owner and the black dial has turned in an incredible brown-caramel color. A unique chance to get a very attractive cool timepiece.
