Description: L'adieu, around 1960, Installation, 75,5 x 108,5 x 16,5 cm, 3/90, signed lower right: Armand Provenance: - Swiss private collection Fernandez Arman is known for his works with collections in which he assembles groups of objects in wooden or plexiglas boxes according to a certain principle. The present work is entitled L'Adieu and probably dates back to the 1960s. Arman, actually Armand Pierre Fernandez, first studied at the école Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Nice before studying archeology and oriental art at the école du Louvre in Paris. At this time he created paintings inspired by Surrealism. The artist was interested in African art and was fascinated by the works of Serge Poliakoff, Jackson Pollock and Kurt Schwitters. In 1958 he adopted the nickname Arman and began to experiment with his first accumulations. Arman, eigentlich Armand Pierre Fernandez, studierte zun?chst an der école Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Nizza, bevor er an der école du Louvre in Paris Arch?ologie und orientalische Kunst studierte. Zu dieser Zeit schuf er bereits vom Surrealismus inspirierte Gem?lde. Der Künstler interessierte sich für afrikanische Kunst und war fasziniert von den Arbeiten von Serge Poliakoff, Jackson Pollock und Kurt Schwitters. 1958 nahm er den Spitznamen Arman an und begann mit seinen ersten Akkumulationen zu experimentieren.
