The Five Dhyani Buddhas, Vairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amithaba and Amoghasiddha are each depicted seated on a single lotus base within a shaped gilt-lacquer panel joined by a textile band.
Provenance:
Jan Brummelhuis collection, Amsterdam.
Condition: There are flake chips and fine crackles to the gilt decoration.
Wear to the pigments.
Fading and stains to the textile.
The leaves have been attached with a later string.
Unable to examine the reverse due to frame.
