Paper mache automaton with 2 figural stationary birds and 3 animated birds, one drinking from running water represented by a spinning spiral glass rod, one dances back and forth between tree branches and one bird is perched on top of the tree and flaps its wings and sings; birds are animated through a spring driven brass movement contained in the ebonized wood base, the movement has 2 whistle tones with bellows and is in running condition, also contains a separate cylinder music box with pull string wind and operates on a separate on-off switch. Timepiece has a 3.25 in. porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals and open moon hands; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven movement signed “Japy Freres” has an half hour strike on a bell. Mechanisms are in working condition, the bird moving between branches is detached from its lever and not moving properly, back side of dome is broken. “F.
