Description: Pair armchairs, English, mid to late 18th C., Gothic-style splat with pierced and carved decoration, compass seat, cabriole legs, pad feet, slip seats, each front rail stamped with a Roman numeral, both with wear consistent with age and use including minor scratches, wear to finish and edges, checking, faded upholstery, the second chair with repaired splat at crest and back, 38" at crest, 17" high at seat, 23" wide at knee.
